Fellowship in the Arts
For the incoming class of 2021, the University of the South invites students with exceptional promise to apply for a Fellowship in the Arts. The Fellowships in the Arts at Sewanee range in value from $5,000–$20,000 per year, renewable for four years. They are awarded to candidates with interests and accomplishments in visual studies, art history, film, dance, theatre, or music. Students selected for these fellowships will have the opportunity to dive more deeply into the life of the arts at Sewanee.

The Nicholas Barnet Gilliam, Jr. Award
The Nicholas Barnet Gilliam, Jr. Award was established in loving memory of Chip Gilliam '03 and is awarded to an outstanding graduating senior theatre major chosen by the faculty and staff of the Department of Theatre and Dance.
The Kathryn Diane Backlund Award
The Kathryn Diane Backlund Award was established in loving memory of the wife of Professor Dan Backlund to help outstanding theatre majors by providing support for travel to interviews and conferences, and to offer financial aid to students who receive internships at major companies throughout the United States.
